I'm honoured sir, it's the first time I've ever communicated directly with a Deity.

Ok Mr Evasive, what do you do/have you done, you enjoy the sweeping statements of lash up, heath robinson etc but fail to give valid reasoning for comments when asked, do you have any background in design, small production runs, prototypes, im sure lots on here await your reply as to how clever you are on the subjects you scathe , do astound us.

Oh dear v184 you seemed to have missed my post, so here it is again, we await your definitive answers with baited breath.

I've just removed a throttle cable from a transit that I have owned since it was "nearly new" in 2001, the cable has never been renewed so is at least 15 yrs old and still works fine

Im very happy for u pet !

Why are you laughing? It's older than any Mk6, how many throttle pedal or cable failures have been reported on the forum for Mk5 and older compared to throttle pedal failures of Mk 6 and younger? A new cable is much cheaper than a new Mk 6/7 throttle pedal, as the good BJT has attested to. That cable is headed in my direction, and I'm sure it will provide many more years of useful service.

Just goes to prove you are the classic example of falling for the logical fallacy of confirmation bias, I'm happy to wait a while for for your reply, while you look it up.

I'll let you know when my 'mechanical' throttle pedal fails

Unlike you I will be unable to 'blame' Ford, I made mine myself :D

The only problem I've EVER had with a transit throttle cable is a broken adjuster "sleeve" at the pump end (but have fixed them by removing the broken piece then spacing the metal bracket off the front plate by adding a spacer or another nut between them)

New genuine ford cables are £30 and pattern ones are £15/£20

Phew.........That's a relief 8) ..........

OT but I was reading a thread on a motorhome forum by a chap who had imported a new camper from Europe, but needed some RH headlights to get it registered in the UK, which he'd replace immediately with the LH drive originals as he intended to spend his time abroad..........a pair of RH headlights cost the thick end of a thousand pounds  ............

I'm contemplating some MK 4 glass ones for my MK 5 which are 59 quid each, and I thought they seemed expensive  ..........

I am sure you could lash something up to use a cable throttle on a old mk6
Bolt a potentiometer on top of the pump tie a cable round it bit of a spring sorted
The allcock cable throttle coversion (ACTC) f*** buy it :P
