Factory-fitted Satnav - worth the money?

The unit you linked there looks very smart. If properly fitted, it should be as good as (if not better than) the Ford version. Obviously, you will have the advantages of the DVD player and optional reversing camera, etc. I assume that the installed unit will have its own antenna to avoid shielding effects from the vehicle.

I've never regretted choosing the TomTom. It is easy to update (plug into your computer once a week) and I can use it in any vehicle I happen to be driving. There are newer versions now, with slightly larger screens, and there is a specialised truck version, the 7000 series (typical reseller: http://www.tomtom-navigation.co.uk/). I did buy the Truck SD card for my GO730 and I always intended to write a review but never got round to it. There are limitations to the SD card, so I haven't used it much.
