single seat in - ideas for centre console

Postby Lee J » Tue Nov 07, 2006 3:42 pm

OK, I have got hold of a single passenger seat for my MK6. When I fit this I am going to have a slightly wider gap in between the seats than at the moment.

Any ideas wht I could do with this space? Any ideas for a centre console or storage or what? If so, what would I make it out of or would one from another car/van/truck fit?

Dont want to leave it with a gap.

ideas please, no matter how daft!

If you didn't want the gap, can I ask why you wanted a single seat?

yep, double seat is too uncomfortable for distance work. I only have one passenger up front and the single seat has the height and reclining option.

Ah right, you replaced it with another driver's seat. Aren't single passanger seats are usually fixed?

Nah, Ive replaced it with Ford's single passenger seat which on the Mk6 is optional. It has full movement control like the drivers seat and looks the same as a drivers but the arm rest and seat belt clip is on the other side.

fridge? now theres a thought!

On my last jumbo I bolted an ammo box in this space, was ideal for my valuables, maps, and all the other bits a shite you collect. On top of that I got a dense bit of foam and with the help of me ma, made a nice little cover for it (bless her) so I could still have a kip across the seats without having me arse hanging down.
I know what your on about Lee, ive managed to get myself a single seat, so the double bank is gonna go soon, but I haven’t sourced the single seat bulk head yet, and I aint willing to pay the 480 euros from Ford.

Theres loads of toys you could fit, id get a custom box made up by someone clever with MDF and fibrglass...and then get it covered with vinyl or paint it.

You could fit a screen, DVD player, Kettle, as mentioned a fridge or safe

You only need two tools in life: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.
