Calling all engine experts.

If you popped open a 2 litre diesel duratorq and found 16 crushed lifters, what would you say caused it?

i've seen a couple where too much oil pressure was the culprit.

the timing chain jumps because of a ratchet issue on the tensioner, instead of keeping tension on the chain with the engine off, it does it's own thing.

but usually the timing has moved, valves and pistons have said hello and got to know each other and then said to the head.......you are the weakest link.......good bye
