Get the pedal with your fingers and see how much free up down play there is, the plunger hole when new is a circle but mine was oval about 10mm so I could lift the pedal maybe an inch in total  I thought that was normal too

Is the cylinder a bugger to get at Mate? Last one I did was my old Focus estate, and that was a nightmare :?

Will try the pedal and see.....

I will say it is more annoying than difficult, I probably spent 1-2 hours including bleeding etc. I vaguely recall the job but do recall swearing a lot.

Take the throttle pedal out to make it easier  Be careful you dont loose the little olive on the steel pipe when removing it from the cyl.You may find it easier to loosen off the nuts on the pedal box to get the cyl back in the slots

I changed the oil and filter  8) It was only changed about 3k miles ago but I thought it needed it :D

The old oil was blacker than the storm clouds that were gathering overhead as I was doing it, but I just managed to put the last tool away, and shut the garage door, just as the first drops came down. 30 seconds after I got back in the house, the Monsoon started  :P

Rattled a few more filings off reverse gear....

Got the chance of a set of ramps next week so I need to get my finger out sorting the last bits n bobs before I put the van off the road for a few days.

Where's best for clutch cyl pipe & power steering pipes?

Hmmm, picture from further away might give a better idea, but from them it looks OK to me mate, once you get it fitted and use your spraying talents on it :D

Looks like I'm going to bite thee bullet and get my Mate down the garage to do my master cylinder :( I don't have any other transport till I get the Focus sorted, and I just can't afford to have the van off the road for a couple of days if something goes wrong while I'm doing it :?

I'm not sure I like it tbh so I'm just going to use Mr Aithies rubber for now just to hlget through the MOT then maybe fab the arches with glass fibre (using the connect ones) so they fit better.

I know what you mean about having the van off the road, I still haven't done the CV joint.
