Oh that stinks!! An oncoming car and I actually clipped mirrors at high speed when I was younger. When you look down the curved-profile of a car the mirrors really don't stick out that much. Had to be within about three inches of each other (door to door!) to hit the mirrors. So close.

So anyway... pre-camper-conversion prep going on. Just dealing with some minor surface rust that that was bothering me. Foam roller: White Knight Rust Guard Enamel. 1:10 turps dilution. Would need a 2nd coat if it were exterior.

Had a wee check of the oil filter housing to see if any leaks had developed since fitting the ranger unit and spacer.
I noticed the whole thing was soaking but adapter plate was dry
So just been out in the rain swapping the tpuk new plastic filter cup for the old one I had from the original unit, then cleaned up the oil slick that it's left over the wknd
Let's see what happens now

Right I'm sure you will all bitch and moan at me here but I've always enjoyed trawling through all you lots mk7 projects and jobs you have done on the vans and giving me ideas for my own van. Now I've had to change to a mk8 it makes me sad that there's no such things going on in the mk8 boards. Just wondering if there's any lerkers around on these boards that have mk8s and just don't post the same sort of stuff for they're vans or is it just as they are still fairly new people are not doing so much to them yet.......I would love to do more my with my van but the old ball and chain thinks we have better things to spend money on.

Made a start on replacing the rear discs, pads and replacing a broken wheel stud. All was going well until it got the winding the brake piston back in, not so easy without a rewind tool. But got it done anyway, probably need to replace the caliper in the not too distant future, the rubber boot that covers the piston was split and then got torn up a bit more with me winding the piston back in with pliers
