Well fired mine up for first time in 3 weeks.
Took a bit of a rev to crack the brake pads and get it moving and obviously the handbrake gone a bit stiff but fired up no bother. Nice to be back in it.
Got another week off before back to work, must give it a clean out and it's oily birthday pressy before then.

Meanwhile think I've got a brake hose not releasing one of the rear calipers on her van and it's got lots of oil round the injectors and vacuum/waterpump area and not sure if that's just the problem or if the sump gaskets got a leak too

Funnily enough I played a little game of fuel light roulette this morning, left home with it showing 15 miles left with a 12 mile journey to do. Drove the last mile with it showing 0

The fuel computer definitely lies

And had to drive down some rather narrow and roads to get to my first job of the day

I fitted an engine protection sump guard.

Last winter I put the 2 right hand wheels into a snowy ditch, and had to be towed out. A week later the power stearing high pressure hose came lose when I was 200 miles from home, spraying my presious fluids all over the snow. It just about sticks out from under the engine on that side, so I can't imagine it liked being dragged along the ground when I was trying to get out of the ditch. Hopefully this can protect it somewat.

That look really good Nathan, I always toyed with the idea on my mk7, but never done it.

Yea that sump guard looks good.
I'm seriously considering the same sort of thing!
Just worried it would end up putting me overweight with extra mud I'd end up carting around the place Image
This was today's fun, yesterday I could hardly see out the windows and the mirrors were just caked. But cause it was all still wet n soft I found I can hose down my van satisfactorily with a 9lt water fire extinguisher

Not today but over the past week I managed to shear 2 bolts in the chassis leg for the gearbox mount, Burnt through about 30 drill bits and a cordless drill trying to unsuccessfully drill them out. So I had to cut the chassis leg, remove the captive nuts and weld 2 new ones in. Then weld the chassis leg back up, then it was mot time and she failed on 2 front tyres which I replaced and retested with a pass. Welds look a bit rough but they are strong and I put a plate in behind to reinforce it a bitImageImageImageImageImage
