er indoor had put the heating on and I felt like I was cooking so got up and started searching the intergalactic highway to see what cars are about to replace the frog, I'm now thinking of just putting the BMW in for an MOT and seeing what they say

I started on the known bad one in case I ran out of time, which turned out to be a wise move. Getting the drum off proved to be an absolute bar steward. It took best part of an hour and a quarter of messing about with a puller, duck oil, old screwdrivers, cold chisel and liberal amounts of whacking with a hammer before it finally gave up.
An interesting extra job was to remove the rusted out pair of mole grips that the previous owner had pinched onto the brake hose for that cylinder in an attempt to squeeze some extra mileage out of the nearly non-existent brakes
By the time My son and I had bled the brakes, it was time to knock it on the head. The other side will have to wait a bit longer.
At least I now have working brakes and a pedal that doesn't have to be pumped like crazy to drag the tranny to a halt.
Next job will be to replaced the drivers side cv joint, probably at the weekend, then start thinking about sorting out the worst of the rust, of which there's plenty.

£25? You were robbed! I managed to find one on Amazon, of all places, for £6.40 ex vat. The same cv kit is now listed at over £55. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00 ... UTF8&psc=1
Also got my wheel cylinders for £3.53 ex Vat each! They are now on at £26.60 each!
Not sure how that bargain happened but I'm not complaining. Just hoping it's the right cv kit.
ned wrote:Bargain, I normally pay 8.50 sovs for wheel cylinders, euro crap parts wanted 80 sovs for the CV joint
When are you planning on changing the cv, I've been putting it off as knowing my luck it'll be a bitch to do.
