Found more rust….it’s my new game while I’m off this week…
Also every now and again I get what’s like a chuff chuff at 40,(yes both me and van before you say it) but first thought was it feels like either brake grind or engine moving around, but doubt them, it’s not all the time and it’s only at z speed, don’t dare go past it just yet…
Any way enjoys my rust

Also found more polystyrene, inside the wall crevice off all places…

pff, what did i do today, first i drove my van yesterday on the freeway and out of nowhere there was a knack and ratling noise that looked to come from above...so my first thought was my ladder on my imperial got lose, we stopped at the nearest tank station and found out it was coming from the right side somewhere near the cranckpully.
Drove home and found out that a part of the pully got lose and was scratching against the pully and camcover, so i removed the pully with lots of cursing.
Now i'm waiting for the new pully and belt to come in and checked the rest of the bus....found some damage on the coolant hose coming from the reservoir from scratching against a clip, so i cut this hose and put a uponor socket 20mm with hose clamps on it, and i hope i fixed the speedo witch jumpes sometime or stays on the wrong speed, by pulling the plug from the gearbox ( from what i could find out) and cleaned it with some contact cleaner....tomorow im gonna wrestlle with fitting a radio, car and motorcycle electrics and me are never good friends, but the wife is gonna help out. so wish me luck with getting that belt on the pully from the crank and generator.

Pulled out the 4.27 rear end, and half installed the 3.31. Will finish off the small bits tomorrow.
Hopefully improve on the 28MPG it's been getting since I bought it, constant 100Km/h most of the time.
New rear shocks and pads going in at the same time. The replacement diff has beautiful discs, that saves a painful job.

Thank you , I took it back to the garage , it showed a loss of pressure at an injector , possibly sticking , though could just be some moisture on the connection cutting the feed , like my Vito had , and about £500 less to fix ,so injector cleaner added and so far no more problem ,the front injector wiring isnt the best so will hold off on the "new injectors needed "route for a while

Fitted a winch and wider steel wheels.
I built a new front cross member to fit a winch mounting frame. It's a 12,000lb winch with remote controls. Works nicely - though not used in anger yet.
I'd been looking (including asking here) for some wider wheels to properly fit my 245/70R16 tyres. No luck, including from all of the wheel builders I could contact here in Aus.
In the end, I collected 4 standard Transit wheels and cut the rims off the centres. I discovered that the Ford Ranger 7"-16 rims had the right dimensions and rim material thickness. So I collected 4 of those and cut the centre out. I then made a very accurate jig to get the inner offset and cocentricity right. Then I tack welded the centres into the rims and had them professionally welded all the way 'round and powder coated.
Last weekend I did a 1250km trip and found the van handling better on the dirt, I was able to run on 45psi instead of the 60 odd on original tyres, that made the comfort a LOT better on corrugations. I'm VERY pleased!

Took my aux battery out so that I could get my son's car going. He parked it up last night, and this morning the battery was as dead as a thing not alive! He needed a (decent) battery fast so that he could drive back to work in Lincoln, and my van, having two, was the obvious donor :P

I have a new one arriving tomorrow, but it's just a pain having to take the seat out twice

Finally took it out for a proper run today. 2200RPM @ 70MPH. Still climbs decent hills in 6th. I can live with that :D
