Took the Tango machine in to my Mate's garage so he could put it up on his lift and see if we could find out what's loose. Turned out it was my imagination

Little bit of play in the rack on driver's side, otherwise OK :) Does need new disks and pads on the back though :?

The question is, should I get genuine disks, or risk aftermarket ones :?: Don't want to end up swapping them again too soon, cause it's a bugger of a job :?

They get easier after you do them a few times   Pagid pads and discs from Eurocrap are as good as it gets .Fight for your discount

After Ned saying how much he likes playing this fuel light roulette lark, I thought I would give it a try instead of wimping out and putting fuel in it as I normally do 8)

The light came on at 59 miles
CIMG2561.JPG

And it was still on at 36 miles when I arrived home
CIMG2564.JPG

It wasn't in the least bit exciting, I can't see what the attraction is, but I must say that I was struck with the poor design of the fuel light. I was expecting it to get much more aggressive in response to being ignored, and start flashing repeatedly in red, or maybe something slapping you around the face to remind you :?: :?
I was trying to remember if I was supposed to be facing uphill or downhill when this happened, or was I supposed to be in the outside lane of the motorway :!:  :P

Too many things to remember, maybe I'll just put more fuel in it

Add the miles left to the trip meter, and you have your 600 miles. That may be the first time I've ever done that, it's usually around 550-580 adding them together 8)

No that's cheating, we all know the gremlins in there don't subtract correctly :? You have to actually drive it those miles :o

  Are you saying that the Ford designed fuel computer isn't accurate :?:

The strange thing is that feeding the exact same figures from the speedo, into my spreadsheet, gives me a measley 35.5mpg, so the fuel computer may be "massaged" to make itself look good, as I can't see how they could be any different :?

Exactly, my son did this in his TDCi Focus, driving around confidently with 10 miles showing, telling me that he had "driven around on zero for ages" before, all of a sudden it stopped and changed to zero miles at the same time. As his luck would have it, he coasted into a garage, filled up, and it started second turn of the key  :P

Digital read out what's one of them, my crappy Vauxhall combo van was a bugger for running out of fuel, as soon as the light came one it stopped and had no petrol  no warning or anything, that was a poor design. N

Why is it you lot just can't accept what that little pointy needle is trying to tell you? 500ish miles it forewarns you but noooooo you must insist on proving it wrong

And when you do conk out at the side of the road I bet it is followed by the mutterance of the words........ Ahh.

Ah well, if you can't challenge the laws of physics, what else is there :-(

That little needle is evil, evil I tell you and its a liar just like the brake fluid thing and the speedo that's a liar as well   anyway the lower you run on fuel the faster and further you go because your van becomes lighter see, its all power to weigh wizardry. N
