intermittent starting

Postby eddie7 » Thu Jan 24, 2013 2:16 pm

260 2.0 TDCI (125) has an intermittent starting problem, when the van does start it runs perfectly smooth and plenty of power
The problem can happen when its hot or cold, here is what's been done so far,
Fuel filter housing changed,
New cam sensor,
New crank sensor,
Injectors removed tested and recoded,
New battery

Van was running fine for a day after the work, but then refused to start, turns over but won't fire,,
No issue with the Immobliser light it goes out after key in position 2

Here are the codes showing now,

Po623. Generator lamp control circuit
P1211. Injector control pressure higher/lower than desired (engine running)
P0340. Camshaft position sensor A circuit (bank 1 or single sensor)
P1608. Fuel injection pump watchdog signal lost
P0191. Fuel rail pressure sensor circuit range/performance
P0251. Injection pump fuel metering control A

If it was the pump surely the van would not run as sweet when it does decide to start?
Are there any other switches or sensors I should be looking at? Faulty ecu mabey?
Would be great full for any help

first off check the wiring to the the fuel pump that runs by the starter motor,as this is a problem area on these fwd,may have to take starter off to have a good luck,if you cant see any sign of shafing, you will prob need to strip outer casing back to have a proper luck ,this does seem like this could be problem as it runs well otherwise

In the process of checking that and all wiring to the sensors, will see how it goes, thanks for the reply,

Update. Problem sorted..broken wire inside the loom goin to the pump.when we first tested it on the vehicle we had contnuity.but after removing the loom we discoverd the wire was fractured inside the loom,no damage on the out side of the loom just a clean break in the wire..had a man from frauds lookin at the codes tellin me to change the fuel rail or the ecu!!!
Hope this helps someone else and saves them some grief and cash.
