Why isnt there a 6th gear on the new Transit ?

Postby ChuckH » Sun Feb 25, 2007 10:14 am

Why isnt there a 6th gear on the new Transit ? I drove My new 260 130 BHP Transit up to Scotland and back this week and bloody good it was BUT I was constantly looking for another gear !! The motor is extremely flexible and could easily pull another ratio thereby cutting the revs and making long haul jouneys (730 miles in a day ! ) that much better !

The 2.4 RWD Has a 6th gear My van is the 2.2 TDCI 130 bhp varient so with 130 horses it could easily use a 6 speeder !!! I mean FFS the renaults have em !! Economy would be better as well !!

PS the 2.4 is 135 bhp

   It makes NO difference mate :o as the final ratio is the same :!:

You simply have an extra gear to play with

Like madmark says, it's down to your diff

3000 RPM is 80 MPH and the van is nice and quet But a 6th (higher) gear would realy help on longer journeys To be honest most of My stuff is not motorway But there is no doubt that another sort of overdrive gear would realy pay dividends !

As above, it's not an extra gear you want it's a different diff.
