07 Transit with Can-bus wiring

Postby Wheelnut » Wed Feb 28, 2007 4:41 pm

Hi all,
Has anyone experienced a problem with the new 07 Transit (with Can-bus wiring) not recognising the LED direction indicators on a trailer. I know that the LEDs don't draw the same current as bulbed indicators and hence the transit thinks that there is a bulb failure on the trailer.
Can the transit be re programmed to sense the LEDs? I don't want to fit a resistor load to the trailer wiring unless I have to.
The tow bar wiring is not Ford (not availabel yet??????).
Any help would be very much appreciated

Thanks

TBH I'd just fit resistors, cost pennies and the trailer lighting will work fine on other vehicles too

Yeah it's not the van you need to sort it's the trailer.

Thanks sc_BK
If I fit resistors to the trailer DIs and one fails later (or gets broken), will the resistors still fool the Transit into thinking that the DIs are still working? If so, is this illegal because the tell tale on the dash will think the DIs are ok?

Good point, but I guess since there'd be a break in the system it would show up as a fault on the dash?
