new transit 15 seater speed limiter

I have just ordered a 15 seater transit which will be delivered in 12 weeks time. The only thing I didn't like is the speed restriction, 62mph. Does anyone knows anything about it, and can it be removed? what's the use of having a powerful engine, a six speed transmission and a 62mph restriction?

If the 62 MPH speed restriction isn't legal requirement then yes your Ford dealer can remove it.

62 Mph is 100 kph which is the Standard speed Limiter setting for PSV/PCV Whatever they call them Now.

62 mph is still to fast in my book, your cargo is very precious why would you want to be going faster ??

at 62mph I'll be off the cliffs in a minute or two. As for the precious cargo, I agree with you completely. However this van won't be use for school children. We do work for vip's and executives, including ministers delegations. When you are escorted by police, you need to go faster than 62mph. And when you are driving people who are afraid of being attacked by maniacs or terrosrists, I'm sure the precious cargo will ask you to go faster and save them.

In which case you will need to get written special dispensation to get the limiter removed, good luck with the red tape

hi i have a garage in glasgow and do servicing for a few minibuses 62 mph its the law i myself have a couple of recovery trucks 1 transit 3.5 ton and sprinter 416 super chipped to 200 bhp went for test in jan and was told i need a limiter 56 mph what a bummer no probs i thought i know the boys in mercedes i thought i would get limiter fitted then go back down later and get it removed no chance they said when limiter is fitted it goes threw control unit not tacho like older trucks they told me they did it before and the guy got done for speeding and the cops were trying to charge mercedes with aidin and abettin or something like that so the guys in mercedes have been told if they take limiters of they lose there jobs hope this helps
