transit clocks

Postby loot » Fri Nov 08, 2013 11:14 am

Just wondering if i can ask anyone what the idea is, i used to mess about with clocks on older fords like converting standard fiesta mk1/2 into xr2 with tacho etc, also converted a mk5 escort dash and clocks into mk6/7 latest type, that was fun lol.

Question is, i know i have to keep the brain from my van clocks but can i change the dials etc, do they have 3 pins to them that draw the same power/frequency?
In essence can i get say a set of Mondeo/focus clocks and make a fancy Frankenstein clock without confusing mine?
I could use my housing and circuit/membrane and manipulate the new dials to fit. :o

Haven't had my clocks out yet so have no clue of the arrangement.
Other thing is will the calibrations of said dials be out?
Thanks

They are stepper motors now, I've had mine to bits and there is next to nothing you can do. Can't even get the needles off.

I have the lockwood white dials in mine. Far better than the original ones.

I was just looking at thesefocus clocks and wondered... are they the same size as the mk7 Transit clocks and would that silver surround thingy from inside the fascia slot in? I might have a go at that.

Does look similar doesn't it, i do find the transit clocks a little bland :( plus i have to look under the steering wheel to see the indicator arrows if I'm not sure I'm indicating  I'm hoping a cmax wheel and some speedo bajazzling will be all that's needed. :P

I'd say frosted standard leds but what are they for?
I think every time he knocks someone over they light up 1 at a time this indicating a score, points wise do we agree 1 for a regular, 2 for a jay walker, 3 for an oap in a electric buggy, 4 for a group of cyclists?

I've bugged BJT's lime, as he gets closer they go from yellow (safe distance), to flashing red (he's here)

No not really ;). Just there to tell me if I have anything switched on with my remote key fob, as I have a few extra LEDs here and there, but can't tell from inside if they are on.

Whats that hole inbetween your rev counter and speedo for limitedblack? I don't have that on mine, although I do have more fuel by the looks of it :)

Warning light, mine has the "posh" trip computer with stalk controls. Hence no knobs for clock and trip.

Right, got my eye on some clocks, just wondering if anyone can help, the clocks i have seen don't have the 2 press buttons and do have the info circle in the centre, so i take it they are the top speck ones?
Next question is, if i get the indicator stalk that has the menu buttons, will i be able to control the clocks? Do i need to configure the clocks in ids to work?
Also i have seen 2 types of indicator switch, mostly for the focus, but 1 has the rubber menu wheel where as the other has lugs on it, I'd prefer that type but does it matter which 1 i need?
Lastly the mileage on the clocks wants to be the same as mine, i know ids can be used to increase the miles but if they are higher than mine does anybody know anyone who can set the miles to what i have on mine?
Thanks for any ideas. :D

I thought clocks are the same as pump and ECU, that's to say they are fixed to your vehicle and can't be swapped? IDS or Martyn may get over this. Btw yes top spec no buttons.

Transit stalk has the lugs on it.
Pretty sure the clocks will plug and play, except the temp sensor which needs wired and calibrated on ids.
Yes they sound like full spec clocks
