Mk6 Tensioner and belt change

Postby algieboy » Wed Mar 14, 2007 10:25 pm

Hi all can anyone tell me the pros and cons regarding changing a tensioner and belt on my mk6 2.4 and where is the best place for ordering these parts, do they need to be purchased from the dealers or is it a bad idea to buy aftermarket items such as these?? Thanks

I assume you're talking about the auxillary drive belt - belt can be bought pattern but not the tensioner yet thats a ford only part :D

The tensioners bearings can easily be changed by yourself by the way.
Just open the bolt that attaches the roller in the tensioner and then you can remove and change the bearing.
A new tensioner would have cost 147e and the new bearing cost 7e so it´s definately worth a while. :D

Now I just have to install the belt again. That´s probably the hardest part in this repair.
