Help, gutless van

Postby clueless » Thu Mar 29, 2007 6:59 pm

Hi guys, complete newbie here.
I've got a 125td transit 02 Motorhome, its been all over europe in the last few years without a hitch cruising comfortably at 120kph/70mph, now it just wont go above 100k or 60mph it feels like its lacking power through the gears and is making a gurgly noise, (although the misses says she cant hear anydifferent) You wouldnt believe what that 10mph loss means, i was being overtaken by all the lorrys, and have no guts to pull around any in front? Theres no smoke or any difference in idle etc, just doesnt seem to have the guts.

Please help, I've just picked it up from the garage who said theres nothing wrong with it and it pulls fine, Still couldnt get it above 100kph with my foot flat to the floor, It had an interim service but i checked the oil before I drove away and it was BLACK, i went and asked if it had been flushed and was told yes, they drove the van for about 5k after the service to try and find the fault i described, would the oil discolour that quick? or are they pulling a drain and refill job on me?
Cheers

A 125 should pull well :!: :o :o :o

Drive it until your current diesel runs out (not completely  )and put some BP Ultimate in it and see

I presume the filters, air and fuel, have been changed :?:

what did the garage charge you for?

I always ask to see the old filters etc. from the garage (as i have marked them ) and then know what has been done. ( i am that trusting sort  )

split plastic manifold..

Postby transit4ever » Tue Apr 03, 2007 10:15 am

I have the same problem on mine, its had this problem since before Christmas, took it to 3 garrages who couldnt find whats wrong, 2 thought it could be the turbo pipes split but werent sure.

After enduring the lack of power for so long I eventually gave up yesterday and took a look myself, and it clearly was hisssing from the inlet manifold............

Is it easy to change?

I have sourced a second hand one for £47 delivered from Alm Kyme breakers.
