P1409 EGR?

Postby Muttley9 » Fri Apr 11, 2014 7:23 am

Good morning to you all. On a previous model, you guys really helped me out. I'm now in a similar position.
My Transit, 2010 2.2l Duratorq (Puma) is playing up. :x 116500 miles on the clock. Loss of power at the lower rev range but not bad over 2500 rpm. The engine warning light came on and I have a friendly garage that read the fault code P1409. He reset it for me. I carried out a full service by changing oil and filter, fuel filter and air filter. Problem still exists and after a short while the light came on again. I guess that the EGR is dirty and is sticking. Time to clean it out. Can someone please tell me where it is? I've searched previous posts that are all very interesting but none seem to have pictures or diagrams. Once I've found the blighter is it easy to remove? Any tips? Thanks very much if you can help. I don't want to blank it off and have Vantuner do his magic. I need it working this weekend. Blanking is for the future as is a remap. (had the Connect done - brilliant)

Think the egr is in the same location on the engine for all 2.4 and 2.2
On fwd it is under the right end of the inlet manifold above the starter motor.
On rwd that is at the rear on the right, still between the starter motor and the inlet manifold.

mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

Anyone have a good guide to removing this, cleaning and replacing? looks simple enough but looks can be deceiving
