2001 swb 260 td ftd gearbox / drive shaft problem

hi, i had problems with my gearbox on my transit van so i replaced it with a brand new gearbox, once in place im having problems with the orignal driveshafts the splines are to big for the splines in the gearbox,ive been to ford and they have told me there was 26 different types of drive shaft + a lot of gearboxes to, because the gearbox is brand new im un aware what model it was for but i was told it was for my transit model.
the new one has slightly different electric plug on it / clutch connector different and what looks like a filling / breathing hole near where the drive shaft goes in . anyone know how i can find out what drive shaft i need or point me in the right direction many thanks im stuck at the moment

2003 or newer shafts have fine splines, fit the earlier release bearing to match your clutch pipe and it fits

i just didnt want to go forkin out money on 2003 drive shafts to find out they wont fit , also any idea on that gearbox what the open hole (threaded) near driveshaft is, looks like for when u fill it but on my 2001 gearbox its sealed
