Vxt 75 gearbox

Postby andymudge » Wed Aug 06, 2014 5:29 pm

According to the dealer this is the box that is in my 2003 100bhp fwd. I am going to bight the bullet and replace the box as I've had 3 pairs of cables this year and 2nd gear still crunches like an arse. My question is this , all the boxes I see are classed as mxt75 4 or 5 bolt , there are vxt75 available from overseas but these cost thousands , is there an alternative box or code perhaps I can use please ?

From memory, because I'm not in the yard to ask, the 4 pin changed to 5 pin in 2003 so you'll need to check.

Good second hand one's fetch £250-300. Reconditioned are £480 both on an exchange basis.

You'll get an MT75 for rwd and vxt75 for fwd available in 4 or 5 bolt.
There isn't a mxt75

wrong. there is an mtx75 but the vxt75 is an upgraded stronger box that replaced it, which they fitted to transits. mondeos use the mtx75 but its the same box fitting wise. unsure if it can cope with the extra load that it will be put through though if its fitted to a van. cant see why not.

ok its the 4 bolt as defined by the number of bolt holes going into the mount on the engine block, for those like myself who didnt know how to check.

Does any one have one ?

Transit mk6's FWD were fitted with VXT-75 5 Speed gearboxes with a ratio of either 4.54 or 4.23
mk6 2.4 RWD fitted with MT-75 5 speed gearbox or MT82 8)

If you're are looking for VXT-75 box, here's a couple

1C1R-7002-BF 2001 2.0Di Ratio 4.54 :arrow:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-TRANSIT- ... 41816570f5
1C1R-7002-BL 2004 2.0Di 85/100ps T260/T280/T300 series Ratio 4.54 :arrow:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2004-FORD-TRA ... 5b03069a0e

a VXT-75 gearbox is also fitted to 2001-2006 Galaxy 2.0/2.3 EFI (Petrol) unfortunately no good for the mk6, different clutch/bell housing

Ps- Don't confuse VXT-75 with MXT-75 boxes fitted to other vehicles. For example a Focus Mk1, Transit Connects, C-Max. Mondeo mk3/4 also have MTX-75 FWD 5 Speed gearboxes - They will NOT fit Transit mk6's :!:

vxt75 in fwd mk6's
There is no MXT75 ! There is however a MTX75 built for fwd, but this was never fitted to a mk6 transit.
MT75 (2000 version) was fitted to the 2.4's.
