Disable rear door central locking

Postby TriumphStag » Sun Nov 30, 2014 9:20 pm

Hi all, I leave my van parked up away from the house (quite some distance) and although it is normally empty when left there every now and then I do leave things in the back overnight.

I have a monster full wheel steering wheel lock on it and have hidden the obd port and replaced it with a booby trapped one, so I am reasonably happy that it won't get nicked...... However I was thinking that scroats could still pick the lock and then open the doors to the back by double turning it (van has a full bulkhead). Van is usually backed onto a locked garage but again if scroats can open it, they can push it forward to access the rear doors (or just open the SLD)...

So, is there a way to disable the rear central locking? Maybe a power feed wire that I could snip and put in a fuse (and remove it) or a hidden switch so that the rear doors won't work (already have loom guards on the back doors)?

I want something that is user friendly for me if that makes sense.

Thanks

Bcm connector c2 pin 8 rear door/liftgate unlock. And pin 11 left side door unlock.
Cut these fit a switch or relay of some sort and you can control when they unlock, you can buy a simple remote timer relay for this if you want 8) lock function will work even if unlock turned off.

No, but you can disable the rear locking in a similar way, by removing wires from it, or, by removing one of the two fuses below the steering column, I'm sure one does the front doors and the module, and the other fuse does the rear doors

This is interesting.
So by fitted a relay/switch could you activate it from the locking, on second press on remote. A dead lock in effect.
Deactivate it with a switch in dashboard maybe.

You can connect/disconnect the 2 wires i said however you like, they are simply the earth side of the circuit to unlock the rear locks, you should hide any switches you have if you feel that someone could discover them.
Also don't use the Ford remote if you want to do it wirelessly i think because someone breaking into your van may inadvertantly unlock them lol.
You can buy some remote controls for this.
Alternatively you can buy 1 of these immobilisers where you put the fob into a lug in the dash to switch the relay.
Another thought is that if when you unlock your van normally, there is an unlock pulse then you will have to switch them first then unlock your van i think but having a timer on the switch like in the case of the immobiliser will keep the 2 wires linked til you open the van normally.
I could be wrong but I'm assuming that when you unlock the doors the power is temporary.
I'll have another look tho :o
There are sperate function wires for lock/double lock and reset, whatever that is.

That's fine for me as I usually just open the cab first. Will try the fuses first if that does the job I will fit a switch in the fuse wire. Something to test out at the weekend...... :-)
