Has anyone got a version of IDS I can use for my 2014 Transit Custom and 2015 Fiesta ST? Its working on v101 just now but doesnt recognise the PCM so I guess I need a later version

I think that it is the serial no of the vcm2 causing your problem not the software , download Forscan and use the vcm2 as the interface not the elm327 and you'll find that it will connect to the vehicle recognize the pcm that should get you going

Your not looking for an elm, select vcm from the device list or it will only look for the elm as it I believe is set as the default

Do what Davy says but you can also use ids version v96 to v98 no later. It should work but you'll need to reset the vcm

That is unless yours is quite a lot older than that lol.

Hello , I'm on the path to get vcm 2 working with IDS , but I got myself on a few problems.
I got the VCM 2 , from AliExpress , according to the advert was going to be supplied with V101 Ford IDS.

Unfortunately is supplied with V98 , but only has model list up to 2006 may be. (Which does not correspond to the IDS version , never mind)
I want to be able to install IDS myself.
I got myself IDS versions , v82 , v85 , v86 and all up to v101.
I got the patch for v86
I know how to make the VM ware to start everytime the same time . I use this in the .vmx file . and it starts at 1/1/16 every time

time.synchronize.allow = "FALSE"
time.synchronize.allow.backward = "FALSE"
time.synchronize.continue.backward = "FALSE"
time.synchronize.pause = "FALSE"
time.synchronize.pause.backward = "FALSE"
time.synchronize.restore.backward = "FALSE"
time.synchronize.shrink.backward = "FALSE"
time.synchronize.tools.enable = "FALSE"
time.synchronize.tools.percentCorrection = "FALSE"
time.synchronize.tools.slewCorrection = "FALSE"
rtc.startTime = "1451610061"

What I do. I installed new fresh XP 32 bit on a VMware , set the time 1/1/16 , stopping the internet, then edit the vmx file.
Install V91 - giving me 3 days free trail.
Install V101 or V100 - I have a problem - it's telling me to download a newer version , as this one is old.

Now I think to try again , can you give me a bit more light - what I'm doing wrong ?
My be V86 , then patch it and put V101 on top.
or VCMII-Ford-v86 calibrations and then V91 and after upgrade to v100/101 ?
Can't seem to understand how the whole thing works , but I'm sure will get it in a few days.
I need to be able to read Transit Custom 2014 and remove the speedlimiter.

Thank you
aiako

Hi, you need v96 or newer ideally. I have v96 and it works on 65(2016/16) custom. But you can't program keys or initialisation as pats is online and the pcm are locked. You can try v95 and try on yours but I think maybe 2013.75 is when it went online. Not sure though.

Anyway, if you install id's then run the vcm2 it installs first time the software version to it. You can install later ids and vcm will upgrade, but if you want to run older ids the vcm will show a mismatch and requires that you reset the vcm. There's a procedure to do this.

If you join mhhauto you can download a vmware image of ids already to use. For 2014 I'd be happy using v91-v95. V96 or later will not even try to do pats offline it probably won't anyway on a euro 5 2014 but try it. If it is your van it is worth being able to program fully.

Ok I've got most of the niggly bits and bobs done on my mk7 so it's time to dig out my old Chinese clone vcmii. Since I haven't used it for years I thought I should get up to speed on the current situation. I think I'm on a patched V86 but I'll have to dig out the laptop IDS is installed on and check. For my 2007 Mk7 2.4 rwd which version of IDS would be best? I have XP, Win 7 and Win 10 available if I end up needing to do a fresh install but in that situation I'll need to sweet talk Loot into helping me do the IDS install and patch again :D

Just get Forscan and be done with it...it's "MUCH" more user friendly than IDS and easier to setup.

Actually I was looking at Forskin a few days ago and it looks like it's really come along since I last used it. I have 2 "forscan" cables in my diagnostics (cardboard) box...one worked one didn't ... I'll dig them out :) Hmmm will Forscan work with the vcmii acting at the cable???

Forcan is easier to install but I've not got my head around using it really.

Ids v86.04 is still the best upto 2011 I would say.

Airthies has all of the software in his signature. It works best on w7.

W10 is too jittery for me, 1 minute out works and the next it doesn't.

I have ids and forscan, i really should give forscan some time but like you it's Only used in a blue moon.

See how you go anyway mate.

Pretty sure I have one or two....but would be quite a swim for you to pick it up though. If you're really stuck I could shoot it in the post for you.
