horn not working ...common issue ??

Postby maccavvy » Tue Feb 03, 2015 8:50 pm

only had my van a few weeks. some douche pulled out on me today and gave him a blast... or I would've done if it worked.

it does sound for the alarm.. any common thing I should be looking at . does it have a separate fuse or relay for horn push ???

It's a circular piece of spring steel that makes and breaks contact when you activate the horn push. Located in the steering wheel under the airbag I think.

Uv changed loads of horns depends on where it's been they normally fill up with water it's in front of the NSF wheel Id check you have power there first
just follow the onscreen instructions and it's fairly idiot proof...trouble is, we keep producing better idiots

:?: :?: The horn on my 07 350 is on the drivers side, in the engine bay on the inner wing. Very easy to get to once the headlamp is removed...

check fuse f48 5A in the glovebox fusebox (ajb) and also see if relay r14 is clicking when you press the horn on the wheel, if not, Take the lower steering plastic cowl off and you'll see a connector at 6 o clock, unplug it and you'll see it has 1.........9 you need to bridge pins 6 and 7 on the connector to activate the horn.

If the relay is clicking then the problem is the wiring from the relay to horn.

On mk7 the switch activates the negative side of the relay built into the bcm which sends live power to the horn relay which activates the positive side of it, the horn has a negative and the squib has a negative, bcm internal positive kl30 bus and fusebox r14 positive relay.
