Is my van a Mk6 or Mk7?

Postby combat_chef » Sat Mar 21, 2015 3:00 pm

According to the log book, I have a Transit 110 T280 FWD, engine capacity 2198cc. Max Power Net (Kw) = 81. It's registered on a 56 plate but first registered in Feb 2007. How do I find out what Mk it is? I need to replace the drivers seat as some of the welded joints on the support/adjustment/slider mechanism have completely broken loose and I was advised it would be better to replace the entire seat rather than try to repair the broken welds.

Advice and opinions would be welcome. TIA.

As said, you have a Mk 7, but the Mk 6 seat fits the same, although the fabric is different

MK7 Transits have a high level brake light on the nearside rear door and also have clear glass over the indicators at the rear (the bulbs are yellow). These are the quick and easy ways to distinguish between a MK7 and a MK6 when viewed from the back. From the front the MK7 has the largest "Ford" badge in the entire Ford range on its grill and the headlamps are stacked vertically instead of horizontally like on a MK6.

Mk 6 - gear lever on floor
Mk 7 - gear lever on dash.
