Juddering braking issue - going insane!

hi all,

Transit Mk6 T350 hi top Lwb Rwd (non ABS)

Had a problem for a couple of weeks now, and have slowly replaced everything on the back end but still getting an extreme juddering from the rear brakes.

in the past 2 weeks it has had:

Replacement rear leaf springs/shockers/drums/cylinders/shoes/springkit/centre prop bearing/front disks/front wheel bearings/front pads & O/S wishbone - today even had a replacement axle!

the issue is a hard juddering that shakes the whole van when braking via the foot pedal, but have also tried on the handbrake and get the same juddering through that aswell.

Now run out of options, any suggestions or ideas at all?

Swap the rear/front wheels to see what happens.

Will give that a go tomorrow, we did have new tyres fitted a few days before the issue started, and forgot to add in the list of been dones we had them balanced, one of them was out by 60/45

might have thrown a balance weight? hate the look of weighted wheels #cos of shite tyres,won't buy them me, but then i'm a MAD artist that only wants to cost the state and destroy profits at every opportunity

thats defamation that is and you wi;; be served court papers regardingr civil proceedings for malfeasance in pubic orifices unless i receive that trike engine by next monday which i can put to better use in a triplane for a centenary reenactment of Bloody April(BIG TITS TOO) and the Fokker Scourge(aka wristwatch frisco) over a 1/10th scale vista of Arras(french tart) in the back yard(rear entry).

Are you sure the juddering is coming from the rear? As i had quite a similar problem when breaking, the van would judder and pull to one side, i assumed it was a siezed caliper, upon closer inspection it turned out to be the flexi break pipe. Changed that and the problem was rectified.

is there a brake "bias" valve on our vans ? if that was pulsing / not working properly it might give similar symptoms

If juddering is happening with handbrake pulled, then your drums or shoes are the culprit.

Seems likely, i assumed questioner replaced this lot as an attempt to cure judder, if not then the drums internally and the shoe faces should have been roughed up with emery paper during fitting to allow a good bed-in process.

Without roughing up BJT he too judders in bed, even in school he was often caught slippery-handed carrying lubricants and whenever he tried the excuse that it was rubber-lube for his model aircraft he would get an hours detention with Mistress Hodgepare, we would all laugh as he used to get spanked by her every time.

the juddering started after the rear wheels had new tyres fitted, so the drums & shoes have been replaced after the problem started in order to eliminate this, the new shoes have been scuffed aswell. It is still happening but in scale a miniscule amount in comparison to what is has been following front to rear wheel change over today.

It happens on foot brake and handbrake, the flexis on the front were changed at the same time as the calipers, 1 18mth ago 1 12 mth ago.

the tyres are now on the front and still doing the same, different axles and bearings are ok.

Don't quite understand what you are saying there----- apart from bearings are good dudeydude?

Another think i thunked is to chamfer the linings of the new brake shoes.

the juddering started a couple of days after the new rear tyres were fitted onto the old drums/shoes etc, all the stuff fitted after the juddering started in order to remedy it as stated earlier, today we put the rear wheels on the front and there is still a slight juddering on the rear through the foot brake and handbrake. the wheel bearings on the old and replacement axle are fine, but the judders still there. if it was on a scale of 1 to 10 where 10 was the really bad juddering after the wheel change, we are now on about 2 following all the changes and putting the rear wheel son the front on front on the back ( 2 different makes of tyres, we change the rears 12 monthly at 6 monthly intervals to the fronts) ie april rears oct fronts
