How to find out your van is really worth?

Postby Carl69 » Sat May 23, 2015 7:02 pm

Hi..I was wondering what my m7 08 plate is worth.
It's done 80,000 miles, 12 mot on it.
its just had a new clutch fitted.
New 18" alloys and tyres
Colour coded bumpers
Carpet lined throughout rear.
2 privacy glass windows
2 seats in back
New flooring
Side chrome bars.
I'm asking because while it was getting mot'done the garage offered me £3000 book price.
I thought he was deluded!
I'm not selling however I think it's worth a lot more..
Where do you find out as it's not a normal tranny.
See pic...thanks

Tbh it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, what would you pay for it?

All your added extras only personalise it, your taste, not everyones..Personally i wouldn't buy yours, no offence, just not my taste at all.. and you have reduced its original carrying capacity,

What value have you insured it for :?:
Have you informed your insurance re. mods :?:
Is it scabby underneath like most trannies :?:

Worth noting...
Luxury car options are only worth a tiny percentage of their original costs on used market,
Conversely, pimping can actually lower the value below what it would be standard.. :!:

I think the garages offer was fair.

We bought an 08 260 about 3 years ago for 2800 + vat which had 85 k on it

It's worth considering that when someone is looking to buy a van. They want a work horse, something to use for work.
Hence why "pimped" up vans don't sell very well

Price range for a STANDARD 2008 model is from £2400-£3900. So £3000 for your little 85ps id a fair price

There quite a few mk7's on ebay & Auto trader for under £3000.

One here 2008 85ps done 78,000 - listing says runs & drive well but engine has rattle priced at £1750

Cheapest I've found is 2008 (58 plate) 2.2 Fridge van Priced at £1250 although a non runner with a blown engine. BUT is has done 300,000 miles
