Postby glenandemm » Tue May 26, 2015 3:31 pm

Has anyone fitted one of these to they're mk7 on here too?
I really have to get an alarm ordered asap as I'm up every night when i hear a noise or the dogs yapping!!
I just want a basic alarm that goes off if the doors are opened with one of those tibb pickers etc but don't want to fit the factory alarms as I don't have ids to set up or want to bother with trying to get Mondeo looks etc?

Even the factory fitted Mk7 alarm goes off if you open the door with a key, but turning on the ignition silences it.

I have a Cobra alarm which has a separate fob, which won't deactivate unless you use the Cobra fob, so opening the door or breaking a window will set it off whatever you use to unlock the vehicle

Cheers pal, I might just buy a cheap toad alarm instead and just use that at nights to activate the alarm!

Anyone fitted one of those £60-80 alarms that have a pager with them and remote start etc, I'm only interested in alarm going off if doors opened and possibly using the immobiliser wire too!

I have this alarm fitted on my MK7 and I can safely say NO, unlocking the door with a key does not deactivate the alarm providing its wired in correctly.
The instructions supplied for this alarm aren't 100% correct so when I fitted mine I had to contact the technical department at Cobra who told me the correct wires to tap in to.
It's a good alarm so don't dismiss it, and they're pretty cheap on eBay.

Just had a look myself, it seems there is none available on there at the moment.
£95 is a good price for one of these though.
