Fitting a 200ps into a camper

My friend has just bought a RWD Transit camper conversion. It has the a big body and going along the motorway it struggles against a head wind. He has always been impressed with my 200ps Transit and has asked me if I think a conversion to the bigger engine is feasible?

I know I have read there are chassis tube extensions and I am sure there will be some other 200ps specific items that will be needed but has anybody ever done it?

The Camper is a 2009 reg and the engine is I believe a 125 or 135ps.

A 2009 2.4 will be either a 100, 115 or 140 ps

The way it goes I suspect it might be a 100 then , he was told it when he bought it that it was a 135 but either there is something wrong or the shape of the body is holding it back.

Looking at the link from above it looks doable but not a weekends work. I will show him the link and see what he thinks.

Find out the chassis number and we can confirm what it actually is

I doubt it's a 135, I have one also a motorhome and it goes like stink even when towing cars and jet skis
If it is and he's having problems something's very wrong with it

Just to add we had a compass drifter (coach built motorhome with over cab bed) ok it was a fiat but just like you described any incline or headwind and you were down the box to keep it going that was non turbo and 88 bhp, a mate had same van but turbo version about 100 bhp but loads more torque and that was fine (in fact he still has it)

Why not get it remapped, Vantuner is the man, he can do it by post if you can't get it to him.

It's a lot less grief than an engine change.
