security/breaking in

Postby the_big_fact_hunt » Sat May 30, 2015 8:58 pm

a mate has a 13 plate, think its a T350, someone broke in a while back with a pick, and the other night someone appeared to just walk up and open the back doors, then the drivers door and have a root round. Is there some way of getting in easily? it was on camera and there was no evidence of damage, and we couldnt see that he had been round earlier to unlock it. My mate is pretty sure he locked it and set the alarm as usual. The guy just walked up and opened the door and we cant see how, other than being unlocked.
Obviously im not asking to be told how to do it, nor do i want to see it posted on the forum, but id like to know how it was done to prevent it happening again

A pick key was probably used. Security locks (aftermarkwt) are the only real answer

This is happening was too often folk picking doors so I've rammed tiger seal in the door locks and if fob ever dies I'll just get wee side window out as Cheap and easy to replace. Thieves can't get in if they can't pick the lock

On as serious note, those lock picks that were on ebay.

You can report them as they are prohibited on ebay

Statistically speaking (van thefts reported on this forum only) you'll find that it's down south that get nicked the most i think :-(

If anyone is worried about their van being stolen (the standard way) then secure the drivers lock, it's covered a lot on the forum, OK it won't stop thieves totally but will slow the lazy ones down :-)
Also consider fitting something that makes a noise when the van is interfered with.

i am considering tapping into the siren supply on the alarm and wiring in some airhorns, one in the cab, one in the cargo bay, should be loud enough
