Another non starting TDDi

Postby RickardEM » Tue Jun 02, 2015 12:26 pm

Hello,
A just got myself a 2001 Mk6 Transit as a little project. :)

It's a 75hp FWD TDDi that cut out while driving and have not started since then, this was over 2 years ago. :)

Had to changed the starter motor since the old one was shorted and charge the batteries, they only had 6V and is probably the original ones fitted from factory.
Also checked the wiring to the diesel pump while I had the starter motor removed, I removed the heat wrap and checked the wires.
The cranking speed is only around 250rpm, read that it should be closer to 400rpm?

I suspect that the diesel pump is faulty since it just cut out and won't start, but shouldn't I get any fault codes like P1564 and/or P1664?
I have started to bleed the pump, I run clear plastic tubes from the pump to a can with fresh diesel in it and a bulb pump to the inlet of the diesel pump and when I try to start it now I only get some pinhead bubbles. When I crack open the pipes at the injectors there is some diesel pouring out but not at a great pressure.

Thank you,
Rickard

Yes following DTC's would be stored in fuel pump had failed

P1564 Injection Pump Control Module Requesting Reduced Fueling
P1664 Injection Pump Control Module Malfunction

NOTE Transit mk6's are not OBDII compliant :!: Use another device to read DTC's

I'm using FORScan and a F-Super 2 which was cheap so it may not be the best tool for this. :)
Seems to be able to read the PCM and the other modules, I got a B2450 from the auxiliary heater modul for an example.

Probably is the pump, but it would be nice to know for sure. :)

Thank you for all your suggestions,
