350 lwb power steering problem

I am new to forum. I own 2001 350 lwb 75ps van 114000 miles. have problem with power steering.
When van has been driven for a while steering judders when cornering.
Lots of air bubbles in oil in resevior. Have taken to local ford dealer, they can't find any fault!! Help please!!

Sounds like it's getting air in the hydraulic system, or the fluid is getting too hot.

Does it do it after driving on a motorway in a mainly straight ahead manner, or when almost on a full lock across rough / uneven ground?


Have a look below the front panel in the small gap between the bumper and the panel.....can you see a power steering pipe?
If it's an overheating issue and you don't have a pipe visible in that area, you could try fitting the newer style power steering fluid return line which has a cooler built in.

the steel loop type cooler at the front? saw a brand new one on e bay recently - have a look it might still be on there :D

There are 2 designs, one has fins on, the other is just a steel pipe. Both use air movement to transfer heat along with a slight increase in oil capacity.

this one had no fins
