best place for genuine parts on-line ?

Postby knighty1981 » Fri Jun 19, 2015 10:07 pm

anyone know somewhere decent to get genuine parts on-line ?

local ford place is 30min away, and the guys there are cocks... they'll leave you standing like a numpty waiting to be served while they have a chat about what kind of biscuits are in the fridge (seriously - this happened to me) and then act like it's the end of the world when they have to get off there seat to go get the bits!

get on well with the local motor factors, but I'm thinking genuine ford parts might be better / last longer (mostly after what I've read here)

I thought that too... but I always see things like after-market prop shaft bearings being slagged off here

I need some wishbone rubbers, or new wishbones... figured I might as well get decent ones!

It's always worth calling Ford they have stupid rules about what is expensive and what Is cheap so don't assume that pattern parts will always be cheaper off eBay, especially since Ford don't have to pay delivery(they do have delivery vans tho) and eBay fees.

Arb bushes for my van were a few pounds each for example.
Just bought genuine Ford front brake disks for about 60 quid, my cheap ones are crap and vibrating like hell and i haven't done much driving with them, maybe 9k? They aren't even that worn

On the other hand, you may be quoted silly money for what you need but until you ask you won't know :-(
(Luckily i get free delivery to my work with my parts, you can try it with your local quicko, just phone them up and be mega polite and just ask if the van is passing your work, they may take a chance and stop by, then keep doing it, once they know you are genuine you just call them up and say 'hi it's xxx from xxxx company can i have a price for xxx ' and your in 8) )
