mk7 sliding opening from inside

So, the sliding door seems to stick at times and will not open with the central locking. Ive greesed everytghing up, cleaned the contacts etc. Ive been shown how to open it by putting a screwdriver into the mechanism down below the lock through the plyboard door card. The area where the screwdriver opens the door latch is plastic??? Am I right in thinking a door handle lever/knob or something can be fitted so I can twist it and it opens rather than using a screw driver. Should there be a knob or something that should be there anyway?

Yes a black knob clips into the hole and you can use it to open or lock the door from the inside, my guess is that the original was either removed or been knocked out or something

If the lock doesn't work properly but you can hear it trying to work then i would say that there is something bent or broken inside the locking actuator which is stopping it from catching fully.

If no sound at all then possibly a wiring fault.

Got one off a scrapper mk6. Lifes looking pretty sweet now im ironing out the vans little problems
