Help!! where is gearbox filler hole?

I've just drained the gearbox on my van but what I thought was the filler hole doesnt seem to be the filler. I've circled the plug I took out to drain it, a red fluid came out.

Can anyone tell me where the filler is?

Its underneath the clutch slave cylinder.

the slave has to twist and then it will come out.

So my next question's got to be what was I trying to squirt gear oil into? Was the plug in the top left of the pic. Is it coincidence that the 'diff noise' has got quieter since squirting oil in there?

The diff noise has been there since I've had the van and was still there after a gearbox rebuild 2 yrs ago, they advised me that the diff needed done, but the noise has never got any worse, just suddenly quieter today.

Considering the diff has nothing to do with the gearbox and is several feet away...I'm surprised the diff noise changed after "squirting" oil in there. I "think" that plug may be for a speedo drive if fitted, not absolutely sure though.

Fresh oil may have made your gearbox a little quieter though.
