Timing rattle repair. Bit baffled?

Hi all. Managed to sort correct parts as mentioned in other thread.
Once stripped the old tensioner and blade seem to be fine (tensioner ratchet locking ok) and plenty off tension on blade side of chain. There is however very slight movement in chain between the cam cogs and around pump cog. Is this normal or is it a sign of stretched or incorrect chain. Obviously it should be tight but should it have a little bit of play to take stress off cogs?? I'm trying to source a chain and guides as I'm tempted to replace anyway for peace of mind. But dealer has computer issues and can't help at moment Grrr! Any advice would be appreciated thanks

The chain shoukd be fairly tight all the way round so there's certanly a problem there personally i wouldn't mess arould I would fit a complete kit you could on cheap pin the engines undo the pullys and let the tensioner do it's buisness that should correctly re tension the chain all over

Aah good point wadey. I had my blinkers on today. Made a schoolboy error and didn't slacken cogs. Managed to suss it in the end tho. Have briefly ran it up without rad in. And sounds smoother and quieter with no rattle. I need to finish oil cooler change tomorrow then hopefully run it up properly and test drive. Fingers crossed it's sorted
