Engine overheat

Hello everyone. I was stuck in traffic today with MK6 and after a while engine wouldn't rev instantly then engine stopped every time I tried to start the engine. Left the bonnet open for 10 mins, turned up heating to full and kept reving from time to time. Coolant was just above min mark. Continued my journey and coolant arrow was just below middle(1/3rd of the way). That's the first time that happened. Should I take to mechanic to take a look or it should be fine ?

TRANSIT 300 MWB MINIBUS DIESEL FWD 100ps
Edit: Took it out for a short trip yesterday evening for like 10 miles, gauge didn't go over 1/3rd of the meter. Took my nephew to school today and seems to run fine. I'm going to do service next week anyway. Or should I take it to local garage straight away ?

Your water pump is probably going to die soon, common fault on 2.0 fwd
