EGR VALvE BLANK OR NOT

I have a 2.4 mk 6 twin wheel transit
I was wondering if I should block off the egr valve,
what are the benefit or disadvantages of doing or not doing it

Blank it, then clean out the inlet manifold, and it should stay clean

I did my 2.0 100 and its alot smoother to drive and pulls alot better

Ha!! Will do!! I take its worth cleaning the manifold too or is blanking it off enough?? Is it a worthwhile task even though my van is running ok?

Definitely well worth it, helps them breath a little easier as opposed to having a blocked nose.. My Mk7 with only 40,000km on the clock was rather manky inside, gave it a good clean out and partial blocking of the EGR, all good now.

Yes I did...although you cannot completely blank off a Mk7 EGR, it will throw up fault codes, I have fitted a blanking plate with an 8mm hole in the middle so the MAP sensor doesn't go crazy. The MAP sensor expects to see a certain manifold pressure at any given rpm/load/throttle position, if it doesn't see the correct numbers within the design specs...it'll scream out for help..!
It should be noted that the EGR on Mk7's can be electronically deleted via a remap, then they can be completely blanked off.

With a Mk6 you shouldn't have such dramas.

In general, yes....however, if the originals are still in good nick and still flexible, you can probably refit them. They do go a little hard with age though. My suggestion would be to replace them to be on the safe side, they're not too expensive or hard to get either.
