You probably won't get any help on here to bypass any security system I'm afraid :-(

You may have a faulty key so it's a good idea to get fault codes read and get another key programmed and possibly look at the ignition switch, i presume they are the parts that get the most wear.

Ive got a mechanic friend coming over after work but he doesn't have the ford IDS he has a couple of snap on computers , what would the chances of my key loosing it's code as the locksmith I spoke with said it wouldn't just drop the key code off the key, I'm at the point now that if I can't get it working by Friday Il be needing to rent or buy another van/flatbed for a big job I'm starting on Monday, cheers for the reply loot, ignition switch? Would that be the barrel? I've checked all plugs and connections and fuses I can see, I don't know where else to look

Transponders in the keys can become damaged by hard impacts and strong magnets, the reader ring around the ign barrel can become faulty and the wiring to pump and pcm can be chaffed or corroded leading to poor communication between components :D

What would cause it to go from working fine then working 1 every 10 turns of the key, the 1 every 50 turns then nothing, keys haven't been near any strong magnets, cant say if the keys been thrown/dropped, I've been digging around the back of feul pump, where the black plunger clip for the plug is, there's a water pipe and the bunch of wire is touching it, it still has its outer casing wrapped around the wire so I'm assuming there is no damage to the wires inside? pcm? That ecu ?

Also the transponder ring if I unplug the wire and turn key it flashes instantly, with it plugged in the red light comes on then flashes so I'm assuming the transponder is working,

When I say assuming it means I'm guessing haha

On a 2004 van it's almost definately the Fuel pump EDC failing. Most common ways they fails is either cuts out and never starts again, or pats light starts to behave randomly and flash, sometimes preventing starting, sometimes not, getting gradually worse until It won't go at all.

As its a FWD van, I'd check the wiring to the pump for the chaffing/broken wire issue, as this only affected front wheel drives. But if all is ok, I'd almost put money on it being the pump. Have seen it so many times now :(

Cheers for the input aph, do you know if the pump itself would still work if the solenoid is rewired, I've been chatting to someone local and they say they can wire it up, obviously this would work out cheaper than replacement pump and edc and labour cost,

I will have the wiring checked throughly first though, whats the best way to check visually or with a meter and trace wires back and check continuity

It's been scanned with the big new snap on and has spat out codes

P0000 no code present
B2242 rear cargo door circuit open
B1330 right front door ajar circuit short to ground

Any ideas guys should I assume it's the key and find another locksmith?

Solenoid can't be wired to anything directly to bypass the immobiliser as these pumps don't have a stop solenoid like the old di engines did. The pump has two solenoids that must operate exactly to specification, controlled by the EDC on the pump, otherwise the pump is useless. If the EDC has failed, it can be removed and sent for repair, or the pump can be replaced complete. However if it's a wiring issue going to the EDC then it can be repaired and all will be ok.

To test wiring properly you need a meter, and the how to I wrote on doing this is here: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=124587

Those codes would suggest the snap on was not compatible with your van, very few are as the transit does not follow and standard diagnostic protocol. You can always try a key reprogram by an auto locksmith if it's not too dear, but I'll be very surprised if it works tbh.

Thank you very much appreciate that, Il check the wiring tomorrow following your guide and update thread with my findings , I'm hoping I've got a broken wire somewhere but it's probably wishful thinking, she's on 170000 was otherwise running perfect

That's ok mate, I'll keep everything crossed you find something, but at that mileage it could be wishful thinking unfortunately :( don't forget to give the loom a good bend and pull by the pump plug while testing just in case it's an intermittant break. Good luck,
