Lost 3rd gear

Hi all, I have a 2008 Transit LWB hitop, goes great with 140k on the clock. Suddenly changing up from 2nd into 3rd, there was no 3rd!!! The gear shift still goes into every gear position as normal and there was/is no noise or anything to show what has happened. Was a long way from home when it happened and have since driven about 300 miles without 3rd. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
