Postby garry_noble » Fri Jul 17, 2015 7:08 pm

i know this must be getting boring now but i have just finished engine rebuild for my 135 mk6 ..........i have started it up and all sounds ok , but oil light is on the dash . and it stayed on. im wondering if maybe sensor is stuck as its been in pieces for 6months

im looking for oil pressure tester and what sort of pressure should i be seeing,

Air lock I don't understand how can u stop that?

Once running oil light remains on turn off restart still remains on.

I'm going remove sensor tomorrow I h vae another one but going do pressure test any way ... engine isn't tapping so oil must be getting up top

so to sum this up you have engine running and the oil light is permanently on :?:

before engine rebuild oil light always went out :?:

so the only thing i can think of it their is an air lock with the oil cooler :D or as op has said oil switch is faulty

I have no idea if oil light went out prior to rebuild as it was non runner...... but oil failure wasn't the cause of non running.......

Yes correct when running oil light remains on...... but engine doesn't sound tappy being this is first time it's been started since rebuild

How can I clear airlock then?

remove the pressure switch till oil runs out not running thow basically gravity feed the system

Best option is to connect a gauge. I would guess oil pressure at idle / cold oil greater than 20psi (probably considerably more) but have never measured it. Oil pressure should register within a second assuming the oil filter is full from having been run already. Airlocks not an issue in pressurised oil system.

No good just having oil flow from sender hole - possible to have flow and no pressure (if a main bearing shell was missing, for example).

Previous post suggests method for checking the pressure sender.

May be worth removing the injectors if oil pressure not achieved within 2 seconds with the pressure gauge fitted for the subsequent investigation.
