Mk6 Track Rod Inner Puzzle

Postby kevink » Sat Jul 18, 2015 12:57 am

Does anyone know about thread size issues on Track Rod Inners for Mk6 (135 TDCi if that helps). Got replacements to fit but bloke at parts shop said that my reg was showing either M16 or M20 as both being correct (this is on steering rack end). Obviously they can't both be right, but he went on to assure me the M20 would be right ones because they had hardly any of smaller ones in stock throughout company. Can't find any info online regarding this - only way I can find out at moment is to remove old ones and compare (not possible to look at them in situ because the thread in question is screwed into rack), but then if I need to swap to M16 I'm going to have to put it all back together or get a bus to parts shop. Just wondering if anyone knows if there's a specific model that uses different size (or maybe that the EuroCarParts computer system is simply crap) so I can eliminate potential frustration before starting. Many thanks if anyone can shed any light on this.

Probably good idea. Having a stupid moment right now wondering why I never thought of that! Won't get a chance to do it till next week though.
