For all Mk6 Transits with 15" wheels you can use without problems 16" wheels from Mk6/Mk7.
My Transit Mk6 125T300, purchased in Germany, has written in original papers (in Fahrzeugbrief) two sizes wheels: 15" with tyres 195/70R15C102R and 16" with tyres 195/65R16C102R.

Oposit replacement (16" -> 15") can be sometimes impossible...

As said above, there's plenty of room for the bigger wheels/tyres on your 260, but the speedo readings will be wrong, and tell you that you're going slower than you are

But he can buy tyres with lower profile - as in my example... Both have exactly the same diameter and speedo works correctly.

Yes, I realise that, but he's asking if he can use 215/70/16 tyres which are already on the wheels (I presume)

Oh, no... Tyres 215/70R16 for 85T260 are much much to much (+4,8%). It will look very bad...

It doesn't look bad at all on a SWB ...........................

Silver van in middle has 215/75/16, white vans both have 195/70/15. The bigger tyres just fill the arches better :)

Plenty of room to fill the wheel arches with a bigger tyre, and this van is loaded :D

All 330 and 350 are fitted with 16" wheels
All 250, 260, 280, 300 are fitted with 15" wheels

Except the 280 Econetic which has 16" wheels ( but it's actually a down rated 330)

Regardless if front or rear wheel drive
