Totally busticated lock

Postby Punto443 » Tue Sep 01, 2015 11:25 pm

Something must have fallen over in the back and got jammed up against the tailgate, so like a fanny I tried to push it in and be a bit heavy handed with the handle, rather than open the side door and pull out the 10 sheets of plasterboard and see what was jamming it!

Well, it went "ping" and the handle went limp! Tryed to lock and unlock, but I'd f*** some thing in the lock mechanism :?

So I had to take all the sheets out anyway, tear off the lining, and after 20mins mucking about I realised what had to be done!

Then I luckily had a spare lock still, I'd offered it to 2 different folk over the last couple of weeks! But thankfully no takers

Needed modified though

Had to swap the levers and rivet it back together.

All works again, so the moral of the story?

Don't be a lazy b*stard and don't force the locks
Those 10mins I tried to save just cost me over 3 hrs! :?

   Been there....done that....   with my rear door latch too :!: didn't quite smash to bits though, as I knew which bit to force open with a screwdriver and release the latch, but still had to fit a new one.
