program new blue chip fob/key

Postby bertsta2002 » Thu May 31, 2007 5:05 pm

A new all in one blue chip key ive followed the guide to programin , it works and i can lock/unlock etc but when i put the new key in to start it just the battery lite comes on as i try to start. tried my old key( seperate fob) and that does the same it wont start. do the 8 times in 10 secs with the old key and its back to normal i can start the van, any idea on how these new type ones work am i doin some thing wrong ive searched the site , my van (01 fwd 260)

The correct and published method of programing the fob is

turn the ignition from off to on 8 times within 10 seconds ending up with the battery light (ign On) ON

the vehicle will confirm it's entry into learn mode by locking and unlocking the doors

after it's finished doing the locking bit

press any button on the fob

the vehicle will then confirm that it's learnt the code by doing the magic locking thing again Smile

when thats finished press a button on the OTHER fob

the vehicle will now cycle the locks for the 3rd time

turn off the ignition and the vehicle will cycle the locks for the 4th and last time.

The new style keys can't be programed to start the vehicle in that manner.

The vehicle needs to be plugged in to IDS and the key erase routine run before the new chip can be set.

The text you posted....looks like mine :D, thats only to do the remote fob on the older Transit and didn't program the actual key anyway :D

Are you adding the key as a spare or is the other one inop?

As it's a new Transit a defective key would be covered by warranty, so let the dealer do it :)

They will need ALL the available keys as the codes will be wiped and reset.
