prob the sensor in the exhaust sensing an over rich condition puts it in limp mode
turn key off and on and all will be cured
worse with power box because it increses fueling making it richer
my 125 tdci mk 6 used to do it it could be a blocked intake turbo not boosting enough or a faulty sensor

i am no expert but just my $0.02

like a lambda sensor or something

i had 1 of those power boxes and all they do is turn up the fuel rail presure

mine had an adjustment and if turned above half would set the glow plug light flashing as soon as you give it some gas and into limp mode

i can only presume this was due to emmision control kak screwing with things
