Postby Two Transit Dave » Mon Jun 25, 2007 2:04 pm

Anyone have any ideas this morning driving my T90 350 Transit it just died on me, called recovery in the meantime checked the lights below go out when the ignition is turned on but the battery and oil lights stay on and stay on when turning it over, it turns over o.K. and the recovery guy checked that it was getting fuel o.k. and it is, we also checked the fuses in the engine bay and on the left hand side fuse box all seem to be o.k. anyone any ideas?

Just been searching past posts. When the key goes in and you turn it the little red light stays on then goes off. By the clock that is.

Pump timings sliped? Having just had to replace all my timing chain guides because one was broken i know all about them. The Ford technician i spoke to said is was common for the guide between the inlet cam and fuel pump to break and jam between the gear and chain causing the pump timing to slip.

Then as a coincidance, the Transit at work wouldn't start a few days latter, gues what, the cam timing had slipped. Unfortunately it wrecked the head this time. Just as well it's still under waranty :)

Did yours have the two lights i.e. Battery and oil staying on and the rest going out then?

They are ment to do that, they do that until it starts and the oil pressure rises and there is a feed from the alternator.

Never noticed it before, the Ford Transit now holds the honour of being the only commercial vehicle or other vehicle to break down in thirty years of trading it makes me wonder if I should have kept with Renaults.

Hi folks.

The pump's failed on our '02, 90, 350 too.

Recon pump, £500.00 +vat.

Local ford dealer wanted to renew, the pump, injectors and injector pipes and charge £1950.00 inc. fitting and vat.
They also said, that the older duratorq's are prone to the 'high pressure FIP breaking up internally' quote.

The recon pump has been fitted and it's running again :D

So far, so good

What mileage is yours? mine has just done 83000 and passed the MOT with no problems. I am getting my local diesel specialist to do mine rather than the Ford Main agent. It makes me wonder if I had fitted a tuning box it would have died earlier.

Just had a call from the local fuel injection specialist its code 1664 so a P/X unit is coming according to these specialists their Transit did the same and it is quite common.

My mileage was a bit more than yours, just a tad  173000 and from the service history thats it's first pump.

The fault codes that came up were...

P0335 Crankshaft position sensor
P1563 Pump/Injector Control Unit, Engine Shut Off
P1664 Pump/Injector Control Unit Malfunction

Fault memory was then cleared and P1563 and P1664 came back on cranking.

I guess at that sort of mileage you can't really complain but in my case it's a bit harder to swallow.
