difference between mk6 & mk7 85 ps engines?

Postby adamv6 » Sat Jun 30, 2007 3:04 pm

i've currently got a mk6 06 plate 85/260 (works van) it's getting swapped on wednesday for a new 85/260, i've noticed that the new ones are 2.2 litre instead of the 2.0 litre in the mk6.

is the power still the same or has the new engine got more oomph.?

I spoke to a bloke a few months ago who said the new Mk7 he had, which had the same spec difference as you mention, was slower than his Mk6. Said he and his mates had raced them down a dual carriagway :( once and his new van lost.

it's only happening because we're changing lease company, otherwise i'd be waiting for another year or 30k miles.

when my mk6 was new it was much slower than it is now, so hopfully the mk7 will loosen up after a good thrashing.

hopefully the 2.2 will have more torque as said. the mk6 2.0 looses loads of power when loaded, and mine is loaded 24/7.

thanks for your replys guys. i really can't wait to get my mk7, i've wanted one for ages. :D

Only if it's a TDCI :!: (which has higher torque output )
The "old" pump version  don't think so :!: And remember the TDI revs higher

Ford Transit 120 TDI EPIC Automatic. 0-60 in a leisurely and smooth 12.7 seconds and 1/4 mile in 19.1 seconds. Now where's all these faster? manual Di s?

it's very tempting, i'll look into it and ask permission from the significant other.
