3 way tipper question

hi, new here and looking for some info on the 3 way tipper i just got from work to use.

at the front of the tipper body, underneath on each side, there is a handle with a sort of tray attached to it, it slides in and out and i was just wondering if anyone knows what it is??

That's so that you can choose which way you want to tip.

its meant to cover the pin thats staying in, because as you will know you remove and move the pins to make it tip the way you want it to
