MK7 Drivers side rear door loom

Postby bcraven2 » Thu Feb 16, 2017 5:18 pm

Hi,

some B*****d has cut through the rear drivers side loom :x , just wondering if any of the mk7 rear door looms can be used to replace it. Looking around i cant seem to find the exact part number i have on this loom (6c1t-18c394 LE)
I have found looms that match the number 6c1t-18c394 but they have different letters such as 6c1t-18c394 LF or LB will any of these work?

Thanks in Advance.

I'm pretty sure the other part numbers will work

well ive been to look at a couple of looms which were same part number but with different 2 letters (LH and CA), both of these looms were from mk 7's but had 9 pins on the door lock side of the loom where as the loom i have only has 8 pins, also the looms i looked at were colour coded and the one i have is just 8 solid black wires.

pics of my loom attached

Hi, I've only just joined this forum an I am currently chasing down a central door locking fault with the rear doors of my van. I have a similar loom to the one that you have. There is eight wire's at the lock end and on the other end behind the rear lights the wires go to two separate plugs. one plug has five wire's and the other has three wire's. All of the eight wire's are black. The number on my loom is 6C1T-18C394 LC. Are you thinking of joining the wire's up. If you are then you maybe in luck as I have not yet had a chance to check the integrity of these wire's in this part of my loom. I am planning to check this part of the loom in the next few day's if it helps.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but thank you for this! I've just had the same issue with our van where the cables had been hacked through and the central locking is now working again.

Another late entry into this thread. Keen to understand how Midnight figured out the wiring connections as I have a slightly different setup on my 2013 Transit. I have attached pics of the two connectors in the rear light cluster - all of these wires go into the drivers side door. The two heavier gauge wires in the bottom pic go to the window heater but the other five wires go to the connector for the remote door lock and I can't see what connects where. Bizarrely, there is also a wire that goes from the remote door lock connector to the window heater - no idea why?

Thx for the help

Thx tranmx2. I think this is getting me there. Do any of your black wires go to the heated rear window as two of mine do from the grey connector in the pic. I then have five black wires going to the door lock connector but have no idea which which goes to which terminals on this connector. Any clues as to how to figure this out? Thx heaps. Chris

There are no windows in my van's back doors.
I have an image (video) of the black wires at the drivers door which are connected to coloured wires.
I have the image (video) of the rhs rear cluster and lock wiring. So I have two lots of info' as to which black wire is connected to which coloured wire at the front and back of the van.
Next I'd access the lock(s) and see which coloured - black wire goes to/from/on the lock.
My next move would be to find the harness behind the drivers seat area and look for the coloured wires seen at the back or front. The harness could go along near the top of the roof or along underneath on the chassis.
After that I would look in the area of the fuse/relay board to find the coloured wires there.
Much easier to do with a wiring diagram. I'd look on the internet for relevant info'. Look in the Haynes manual for their diagram even if it is for an older model. Sometimes there is info' from a manufacturer of that type of system.
Sometimes I look on the camper van forums.
One needs to look for info' and look on the van to find what goes where.

Ford made a big mistake to not issue wiring diagrams. Had I known the info' was not available I'd have looked for a vehicle that has the info' available to carry out repairs.

So a picture is built up / drawn of what goes where in/on the van by looking at different areas. You may not find all that is required but you'll find a lot of what you need to know. A DMM - or wires with battery and a lamp - can be used to check for continuety. Continuety may not show where there is a electronic unit or switches in the circuit - on modern vehicles putting more than 5 V on a circuit can cause problems so one needs to be very sure that it is only the wires that one is applying V to.

14 yrs ago when I got an Audi A6 that did not work I used info' for BMW and any other info' I could find to - find the faults. Eventually I got info' for the A6 - it still works at 26yrs old.

Manufacturers have been known to change the wire colours en route.

Without a wiring diagram there is but two choices - stealership - do it yourself.

Just seen your post in the other post re loom back doors.
Perhaps on Thursday this week I'll be able to remove the back door lock off my van.
So can show which coloured wire goes to which black wire and which black wire is connected to where on the lock.

I think on youtube is a vid of fitting a plate on the door/frame to prevent the wires being cut in the tubes betwixt frame and door.

Opened the rhs rear cluster and got inside the door.
Could not get the lock unit out with out taking more things off. Did get the connectors and harness/wires out to look at and used the DMM for continuity twixt - coloured - black - coloured wires.
