Glow Plug testing

Postby sam_transit » Wed Jul 11, 2007 12:27 pm

Hi everyone. Ive removed the glow plugs from my 125ps 2.4 Transit because of poor starting issues. When I connect the removed plugs direct to the battery using 2 jump leads, NONE of the plugs glow!
Is there something wrong with my test procedure or were/are NONE of these plugs actually working?
Starting/idling ws much improved for a short while after installing the new plugs, but now seems back as before-a bit worrying!

I guess you've never had a Mk6 then? They have glow plugs!

it's for cold territories - the mk5's etc had the flame plug in the inlet manifold it's just that glow plugs are in them all whereas the flame plug was just fitted in the cold countries

More to the point, how bloody lucky that all four plugs came out without snaping in the head.

Like mine did
